Last week I finally decorated our front porch. We have had the warmest fall that I can remember ~ close to 90 and so humid! For those of you who do not know, I live in Pennsylvania and this is very unusual. Finally last Thursday the weather broke, and it started to feel like fall. This got me in the mood to get out there and do some seasonal decorating. Simplicity has been my motto this fall, with so much else going on, simple is always good.I knew that I wanted to do whites, grays and browns. That alone helped me stay on track. It took me one morning of running around to change up the porch from summer to fall.
I put away the summer pillows and tucked all of the flowers behind the swing. I really try my hardest to keep everything alive for next year and these will soon be going into the greenhouse.
Then digging through my fall bins, I pulled anything out that would work. The one thing I forgot about was the wreath I made last year, and it was perfect. This was so simple, and so inexpensive to make. I bought everything from Joanne Fabrics. (Selected the ribbon first, and then pick out complimentary faux flowers/berries etc… wrapped them in a little spray and attached it to a grapevine wreath ~easy!)
I found these wool plaid gray pillows from Homegoods. They have a little bit of fringe and the other side of them is black. It took me all of 10 minutes in that store, which was a record. The white throw was in our living room, its from Ikea. I also had a white wool pumpkin from last year and placed that on an old green newel post.
A pumpkin pillow found at Target was perfect for my rocker. It was the last one and I love it!
On top of the table, I added a white lantern, a little topiary with a pretty piece of green transferware underneath, and lastly a felted pumpkin, which is so special because it was made by a friend who has since passed away.
That lovely yellow wicker table was given to me by my neighbor. It was her grandma’s and is such a treasure. Normally, I decorate with yellows, whites, and greens because of the table, but wanted to try something different this year. I think it looks pretty good.
I bought a bunch of white pumpkins from a local farm and piled them on our steps.
And a giant white mum tucked inside an old wicker shopping cart finishes it off. Walmart had some of their mums on clearance for $3.00!
That’s it, a simple, fall porch.
Thank you for visiting me sweet friends! Hope you are enjoying the season. xoxo Jenn
p.s. I am not affiliated with any of these companies. I am always curious where others find their pretty things, and I wanted to share where I found mine ~ thanks!
Happy Fall!!Your porch is simple and spectacular
