About Jenn

Growing up in the country with very few other kids close by, many of my days were spent fixing up and playing in our barn’s hayloft, always drawing or creating something for that little space.  Wandering through the woods collecting rocks, flowers, moss, anything interesting to bring back. Sewing pillows or crocheting little potholders. Stitching pictures of flowers for the walls.  Picking wild apples and blackberries for dessert for me and the many kitties we always seem to have. Those early years influenced my lifelong love and appreciation for anything that is simple and handmade.

I am now settled and living in a small Pennsylvania town outside of Pittsburgh.  Happily married, and mom to one sweet kid. I started Rabbit Hill Primitives and Vintage in 2005. Before that time, I tried many jobs… waitress, front desk clerk, store manager of a trendy little shop in Santa Barbara, foundation work for cancer research, garden maintenance and design at a local nursery, and financial analyst for a garbage company….in that order! I enjoyed doing all of those things but was never fully satisfied.  When Lydia turned 3, the office I worked for closed and moved to Philadelphia. I was laid off.  It was scary to be without work, but Dino and I thought it was a good opportunity for me to stay home with Lydia. It was tough but we skimped and budgeted and it worked.  During that time I started selling antiques and handmades at a little antique mall in Ohio.  A few years later, right before Lydia started kindergarten, the antique mall went out of business.  I felt this was God giving me a chance to try it on my own.  I began building my website Rabbit Hill Primitives the day that Lydia started school in September 2005.  15 years later, I have never looked back.  I treasure that time at home dearly, knowing how lucky I was to be with her and still be able to do what I loved.

Last year Lydia graduated from high school and is now in college in California as a Plant Science major.  Life is definitely different for Dino and me.  Thank goodness for FaceTime!  To fill the quiet time, I am expanding my business. Starting slow and learning as I go.  I’ll be sharing more, offering more, and hopefully inspiring more too!

I want to create a space that shares little moments of happiness with you. Simple ways of living. Handmade ideas. Recipes. And flowers and gardens! Oh how I love plants!

I will continue to make textile art pieces using treasured, found, and salvaged materials. Collecting fabric is my passion!  But I have a deep desire for sharing more.

So with all of that…

Welcome to the new Rabbit Hill, Handmades & Happy Things by Jenn Tavoletti!

A place where we can all come together, sharing beautiful ideas in this interesting world we live in.

I’ll be gardening, cooking, and creating every step of the way!

Anyone remember this poem from grade school? Flo Anyone remember this poem from grade school?

Flowers, flowers everywhere, on the trees and in my hair.
It may seem strange but not to me, flowers, flowers I can see.

Hello dear friends!
I was planning a shop
update this week but we have had the most beautiful weather and I've been busy in the garden. Trying my hardest to finish the latest project, and getting ready to start planting! The poor little seedlings are bursting out of their tiny pots.

Since it is raining right now, I am inside, watching garden videos and sewing this new fleur piece. I love making little bouquets of blooms!

Flowers, flowers everywhere, full of beauty and of care.
Life is sweet when in full bloom, flowers, flowers in my room.🌸

Happy Friday!
….shop update next week for sure! xo

Hello, lovely friends! The world has suddenly turn Hello, lovely friends! The world has suddenly turned green and feels like we have turned the corner around here! I am so ready to plant out my seedlings but knew that we would have to replace our raised beds first - they are rotting. We now have the wood and hopefully can finish it next weekendI This is what it looks like right now and a glimpse of my plans at what we are doing…basically making the 1 bed into 3 smaller beds. I will have to dig out some of our garlic and a few cucumbers that reseeded here from last year, and move the archway. Lots of work! Lots of fun! And you can see Juney wants to help… (or always lays on my feet when I’m taking pictures lol!)
I would love to hear about what you are doing in your garden this year! Love some inspiration!! I hope that you have the most wonderful week ahead. I’m off to sewing a few flowers now. Thanks for always being here! xo

A little obsessed with mushrooms and flowers latel A little obsessed with mushrooms and flowers lately - oh spring, I love you!! Sewing pretty mushrooms in the evenings has been my nightly project this week. It has been so cold (we had snow!) and finally the sun is shining today. I will be heading to a cute little greenhouse by our cabin later to pick up some pale pink geraniums and then, if there is time, a walk around the woods with hopefulness of finding a few morels 🍄 Happy Friday friends xo

The name that I wanted finally became available a few months ago after waiting a long time. Starting soon, I’ll be moving the pictures from the other account over so that I can close that account. It will be from the very beginning if you are curious. And if you have been following along, we are actually back to working on it after a long break 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
