Cloth Doll ~ On Early Work Mercantile for April
Her face is stitched and needle sculpted; hair is early wool hand sewn on. Her legs are button jointed so that she sits very nicely. Made of several different fabrics, and filled with roving from a local farm here in Pennsylvania. Shoes are hand painted with stitched laces. Her crochet shawl is also made by me. She is holding a little bouquet of old millinery lilies of the valley, which are over 75 years old. 13 1/2″ tall.
While making her, I imagined her walking through a field of wildflowers on a windy spring day.
Little Rabbit Dolls ~SOLD~
Little Rabbits both have stitched faces and button-jointed arms and legs. 10 – 11″ tall. She’s a little taller than him. He’s wearing a bow tie and some britches and has a needle felted tail. She is wearing a faded homespun dress with pocket and has a buttoned on crochet scarf
I had fun with these. They look like they are going on their first day….He is a little shy and she’s a little happy.
Hand Knit Bird Nest ~SOLD~
Hand knitted using mohair yarns in natural colors with a few novelty ribbons, twine added in for a bit of whimsy! It was first knitted, then felted for a more rustic and life-like look. This measures 5″ wide by 3″ tall. Tucked inside is sheep roving from a local farm and 3 quail eggs.
Spring Rabbit ~SOLD~
Bunny has stitched eyes and a little stitched nose. His ears are lined with vintage fabric and he has a needle felted wool tail. His arms and legs are button jointed. He is 12″ tall, and weighted.
Included is a freeze dried carrot. It is not attached in case you want to place something else in his arms.
“Spring Rain” Textile Folk Art SOLD
This is hand-stitched and made using early bits and pieces of quilts and old textiles appliquéd together to make a picture, like a cloth painting. It’s my very favorite thing to do! There are many, many stitches in this little primitive piece. Each one is individual and unique. Tattered and torn in some places because of the age of the fabric.
This little piece is inspired by my early spring garden which is full of hellebores. One of my favorite flowers.
